First things first… this is not an article about how to lose weight fast… or even about slimming down. Yes, what I am about to share with you will help you lose weight, BUT THE FOCUS of this article is on how to keep the weight off!
How to lose weight and keep it off
I’m just going to assume you’re eating pretty healthy and let you take care of that part of maintaining your weight loss. I will focus on the exercises.
The #1 Exercise keeping weight low is… WALKING.
WAIT WAIT WAIT! Don’t leave me yet, I still have some little-known tips on how to get the most calories you burn from walking.
Now, walking is great for weight maintenance (as opposed to weight loss) because walking dramatically affects SET POINT. The set point is like your own body thermostat. It likes to be in a certain range and if you lose weight and get below that range… it pulls you back into the range, regaining the weight.
Since this is somewhat of a complex, I’ll just state clearly that if you don’t lose weight while lowering your set point at the same time, you’ll likely gain it back. But plain OL’ WALKING helps you lower your set point (however, walking isn’t good exercise for losing weight with… STRANGE).
Anyway, 2 key points I want to tell you to help you not only lose weight, but keep the weight off.
1. Take deep breaths while walking
Take a 5-5-5 breath in… for 5 seconds, hold for 5 seconds and exhale for 5 seconds EVERY MINUTE. This is the best. But if you don’t want to do that, just take a deep breath once a minute. This helps oxygenate your blood which helps you burn more calories. A great 15 second weight loss accelerator.
2. Walk on an incline
This is very good for weight loss…unlike walking on a flat surface. Just a slight incline of 10-15 degrees is all you need to start shedding even more pounds WHILE also lowering your set point.
