The very first thing you should keep in mind is that there are no supplements, pills, or protein shakes that will make you gain weight by themselves, if you use them at all they have to be part of a bigger plan to reach your goal.

Let’s just say for a moment that you’ve decided you want to pack on a few pounds of muscle. Naturally, the first thing that comes to your mind is how to gain weight fast, right? I mean, let’s not kid ourselves. We live in a society that demands instant gratification, not one where we expect to have to work hard to get results. Sure, we might not admit it to ourselves, but subconsciously, it’s really the way most of us act and think. If it wasn’t, why would we spend so much money on things like weight gain pills, supplements and protein shakes? It’s a multi-billion dollar industry.

Let’s take a moment to look at some shortcuts.

Eating calorie heavy meals after a workout – For some people who are trying to gain weight quickly, this is a bit tricky because they simply aren’t hungry when they are done with their workout. So trying to load up on calories is the last thing on their mind. To make this easier, you want to focus on foods that pack the biggest calorie and protein punch in the smallest portions. Great examples of these types of foods are red meat and potatoes. Men especially can choke down a big steak and a pile of chops even when they’re not hungry, simply because it’s steak and potatoes. So, if you’re looking to add some muscle and weight to your frame, this is a great example of eating when you’re not hungry.

Exercise for weight, not reps – Most of us, when using any exercise routine, try to maintain the weight as many times as possible. When you’re trying to figure out how to gain weight fast, you want to change gears a bit and go for the heaviest weight you can lift if you can lift it 4 times or more. The goal is to really rip the muscles to pack on the mass.
