Check that the protein you choose is based mostly on protein isolates instead of concentrates, as isolates are purer and of higher quality.

The protein content should ideally be over 80% of the serving size…any less and it probably has a lot of fillers that are not good for your weight loss.

Sugar content

An obvious but often overlooked factor in choosing the right protein powder for weight loss is the sugar content.

Many protein powders and shakes are advertised as “tasting great”, but don’t let that fool you. Yes, taste is important, but don’t let your hard work and effort go to waste by choosing a protein that tastes great but will limit your weight loss efforts.

High sugar wreaks havoc with your metabolism, giving you energy in the short term only to crash you later. It can also contribute to snacking and sudden hunger pangs.

The most ideal protein powders for weight loss will have little or no carbs and sugar, meaning you won’t sabotage your weight loss diet.
