3 Tips on How to Lose Weight
With obesity in adults and children becoming the norm and fast food restaurants on every corner, it can sometimes seem easier to become a statistic in the battle with weight than someone overcoming the barriers of our fast-paced past environment. I have struggled with my weight for many years, and after watching my then 45 year old mother have a heart attack, I knew I had to make a change. Fast and drastic! Below are 3 very helpful tips I learned along the way. They helped me reduce and make my weight loss goal a reality.
1. Set realistic goals. Okay, so I want to be smaller, but it’s actually going to take me a long time to get there. I’m not going to lose 50 pounds in a month, so why put something out of reach and let them down again? I learned to take baby steps, set real goals and every time I achieved one I set another. I will eventually get to where I want to be, but it will take time.
2. Skip the fast food, or at least try! We all have our moments where it’s more convenient to grab a quick bite. Change your habits! To change this habit, I had to sit down and plan meals in advance. I can’t tell you how filling and more nutritious it is. I know one day my heart will thank me!
3. Exercise! This was by far a tip I struggled with. I can stress fought! So I found a partner, someone who, like me, wanted to lose weight. It helped in many ways, I was able to relate to this person, my friend. It felt great knowing we were helping each other achieve our goals. Even if you don’t have a partner, you should start a regular exercise routine.
I am still working towards my weight loss goal and writing these articles is something of a therapy. Although I don’t know you, yes, I feel somewhat compelled to continue my journey. I am forced to act on all my advice and get closer and closer until my goal becomes a reality.
