Weight Loss and Exercising Staying Power – Three Magic Words!
My name is Greg Ryan. I’m a best-selling e-book author, high-profile fitness expert, former Kathy Smith employee, champion bodybuilder, and CEO. I wish we had met twenty years ago when exercise and proper nutrition found me. I had no discipline, confidence or personality. But what I had was hope, faith and pure motivation. Chances are, you’ll buy hundreds or even thousands of dollars worth of exercise, fantasy, and nutrition gimmicks in your lifetime. However, at the end of the day, your success in losing weight and sticking to a plan will always come back to these three principles.
COHESION:
Losing weight and sticking to your exercise program is hard work. It’s long hours of work. It’s an expensive job. The question is, “Are you willing to pay your debts?” Will you be the Tortoise or the Hare? Stop kidding yourself by denying hard consistent work. Either you do, or you lash out and go crazy with frustration.
VARIETY:
Most people stop their weight loss and exercise programs because of boredom. You? Let’s face it, exercising and sacrificing taste for healthy food is never going to be the most comfortable or exciting thing. However, longevity comes from adding variety to the design. Think ahead, make it interesting, set goals and give yourself rewards. Do whatever it takes to keep your mind fresh. If you don’t, you’ll be a statistic.
EFFICIENCY
Ever thought more would be better? More time on the treadmill. Or cut more fat in your diet? More is NOT always better. Working smarter is! To be more efficient in your programs, you can plan your meals in advance, set time frames for your workouts, eat with your opposite hands, work larger muscle groups first, or monitor your heart rate while you exercise. Working smarter in less time pays off more down the road.
There is no magic to weight loss. There are no hidden magic formulas for all of this. It’s about being consistent, changing things, and being smart about it all.
For twenty-two years these three principles have been the foundation of my life, in practice and with business. Practice them and you will live a life full of heart.
