It’s Time to Quit Your Job – 12 Signs That Make You Say I Quit!
The thought comes to mind every day you wake up… “I should just quit my job!” Then you get up and start your morning with coffee while watching the news. Fear begins to set in as you hear that the unemployment rate has risen and the job market has slowed. Now that feeling of resignation has turned into thanking God you have a job. But even in a down economy, some jobs just aren’t worth it! Here are 12 signs to determine if you should quit your job!
1) Stress levels are very high
If most of your days are filled with anxiety and stress at your workplace, then you might be in the wrong job. Don’t get me wrong, there will be stress in the workplace, but if it affects your health, that’s serious. I once worked with a man who got sick from coming into work. Yes, I said sick! He had high blood pressure, gained uncontrollable weight and suffered from depression! To make a long story short, I told him to find another job. Within a week of our conversation he had found a new job in the same field, but one that suited him better. He gave 2 weeks notice and began to recover his health. BTW that was 3 months ago since this article was written.
2) No family time
I’d be lying if I said family time isn’t important! You may have taken a job that allowed you to spend more time with your family, but then the company decided to change its structure, which requires you to work more hours and less time for the family. It just might be time to let go!
3) You don’t make enough money to pay your bills
If you’re doing jobs that used to take 3 people to do and you’re not getting paid enough to pay your bills, you may need to reevaluate that job. Go find a job that pays what you deserve.
4) It’s been two years and you still haven’t gotten a raise
If you show up every day and work hard, you deserve to be rewarded for it. Don’t let them tell you we’re in a recession and there should be a wage cap, ask for a raise. I’m sure your boss didn’t take a pay cut. If he says no, start looking for another job NOW!
5) All your colleagues get on your nerves
There are always one or two colleagues in the office that most people can’t stand. But if all your coworkers get on your nerves, chances are your days aren’t very pleasant because you have to work with them every day. If you can’t stand most of your co-workers, it’s time to consider finding a company whose employees give you a break.
6) You never wake up excited to go to work
If you wake up every morning Monday through Friday and never feel excited to go to work, that’s a problem. It means that your passion for your work is diminishing or disappearing. If you wake up every day and dread going to work, it’s time to consider quitting your job.
7) You spend time looking for other jobs
You on the clock and spending your time looking for other jobs obviously want to get the H#* out…lol! So keep looking and when you find a good one take it and run.
8) You spend more of your time surfing the web than doing your work
When you’re at work, bored out of your mind, and surfing the web most of your workday, you might want to consider looking for jobs that will motivate you and match real work.
9) You Learn Nothing New
Let’s face it, if you’re not learning anything new, then you tend to get bored and do #8! Yes, you want things to run smoothly, but at the same time you want to learn. otherwise you don’t grow professionally. If you have stopped learning on the job, it’s time to find a job where you will learn new skills and grow professionally or be replaced like a 3 month mobile…lol!
10) Your boss has no idea
Sometimes the bosses are crap. But if your boss has no idea what he’s doing and is taking advantage of your time to get things done, it’s time to find a new job.
11) Quantity over quality
This may not be a big deal at first, but it will be covered in the end. You are told to complete your work as fast as possible but then you have to redo it because you have many mistakes which may reflect badly on you. Not your company. This can cause conflict within you because you want to get it right the first time. Anyone who likes to do the same thing twice, you might want to look for another job.
12) The Company Is Sinking
The signs are there, you just have to look for them. We are in a recession and if sales are down but the company is not in danger, this sign may not apply to you. But, if business has gotten to the point where it looks like the company is going to go under, start looking for a new job like NOW! You don’t have to take the ferry down!
