1. Combine exercise with fun

You can do a variety of fun things while you exercise: listen to an audiobook or some music, or watch YouTube videos, TV shows, or movies (while using the treadmill, elliptical, or stationary bike).

Any of these forms of entertainment can distract you from how hard you’re working or increase your motivation. Plus, exercising with a little fun is a great way to multitask.

If you work out 5 days a week, 45 minutes each, and watch an episode of TV every time you work out, you can catch up on a whole bunch of great shows you’ve been meaning to get into. in less than a month!

What a great opportunity to capture great fun without feeling guilty about not using that time productively!

2. Gaming consoles – not just for gamers anymore!

All the articles and news you’ve read are true – Mircosoft Kinect for XBOX and Nintendo Wii Fit are really great resources for fun, entertainment and effective exercise. Start one of the programs, pick up the controller and get moving!

These types of video games, called “exercise games,” are more than just a form of entertainment. A study conducted at Michigan State University found that the physical benefits of these games and more traditional physical activities were virtually identical.

3. The world is your gym!

And we don’t just mean walking or running. Walking, running, and working out at the gym aren’t the only effective forms of exercise out there.

There are plenty of other recreational activities that burn calories just as well, including biking (my personal favorite), rollerblading, ice skating, kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing, surfing… Anything that involves moving your body counts as an exercise. !

4. Get in a walk whenever you can

That said, don’t overlook opportunities to burn calories by walking when they arise.

If there are stairs where you are, take the stairs instead of the elevator. Walking on escalators also burns more calories than standing on them. Even these simple daily activities can contribute to your efforts to lose weight and stay fit.

5. Exercise with a friend

Sharing an exercise routine with a friend not only provides accountability and motivation, but it gives you someone to talk to while you exercise and gives you both a chance to encourage each other.

Not only that, but you’ll both look great after a while!
