Planning For Your Easy Weight Loss

If you’ve ever been on a diet that wasn’t very successful, or you’ve lost weight and then gained it back (a very common problem), you might want to consider what went into your planning. Most individuals who plan to go on a diet simply look at a few diets, ask a few friends, and then follow the diet. What most people miss is the REST of the planning. There is more to a diet or weight loss plan than just making a plan and losing weight. If it were that easy, don’t you think everyone would be able to lose weight and keep it off?

Here are some things to consider when planning your “easy weight loss” program.

1. What weight loss plan are you going to use? Not all diets and weight loss programs are the same. Try to choose one that you can live with and stay on for a long time. Don’t just take your friend’s or relatives’ word for it, make sure you check out what the diet includes. Remember that not all diets are safe or healthy.

2. How much do you want to lose? Be careful here. If you “bite off more than you can chew” in the beginning, then you may be setting yourself up for a fall before you even begin. If you know you need to lose 100 pounds and haven’t been able to keep it off before, start with a 20 pound goal. This is easier to achieve and will be a great starting point for a weight loss program. Once you’ve lost 20 pounds, go ahead and lose another 20. Do this five (5) times and you’ve reached your goal of losing 100 pounds.

3. How much time are you willing to devote to yourself? How much you want to lose will really determine how long you take. Losing more than a pound or two a week is considered unhealthy. Many diet plans and weight loss plans boast of losing 10-20 pounds per week. Do this and you risk your health. If you lose two (2) pounds per week, you will lose over 100 pounds in a year (52 X 2 = 104). Remember, you probably won’t always lose 2 pounds a week. Some weeks it may be as little as one (1) pound or you may not lose anything.

Due to strange events in our body’s physiology, we may even gain a pound or two even when we have been doing everything right. Don’t let these little jokes throw you off. STAY ON YOUR SCHEDULE! You always have to plan for the little (and sometimes big) obstacles that life throws at you. Find out how much weight you need or want to lose. If you find that you have made your goals a little difficult, back off, but don’t give up. If your diet or weight loss program doesn’t seem to be working very well, get another one. There are plenty of good programs out there that will actually work for you, just check them out. The main thing is not to give up. Most people stop doing what works. They get tired of schedules, feel impoverished, or just lazy. If you quit, I can assure you that you will be more tired of being overweight, feel even more deprived, and even lazier in the long run.
