As girls, we spend our days dreaming of the big wedding, the beautiful dress, the right flowers, the one day we’ll dress up and feel like a real princess. Oh, and of course our prince charming literally swept us off our feet.

Finally the proposal comes and all that dreaming is put into the plan. We (girls) spend weeks or even months doing nothing that has nothing to do with planning the “big day”! After all, we have to find the right dress, choose the right color for the bridesmaids. Then there’s registering for all the great gifts, picking out the flowers, finding the reception hall, etc. etc. Then finally, the day is just a few days away. You think you have everything under control and it’s time to put your plan into action. You have a bridal shower (mine was the Thursday before my wedding day so an out-of-town guest could arrive), a bachelorette party to look after, a rehearsal dinner (Friday night) and finally on Saturday the “big day” is finally here . You’re up at 6:00am because you just can’t sleep and the hustle and bustle of the day begins. You shower, try to eat something, go around everyone and go decorate the reception hall, rush to get your hair and nails done, make up and get into your dress just in time , to turn on your 100th button in front of the limo is here to pick you up.

Gentlemen! You made it, you’re married, the reception goes perfectly and ends around midnight. You change out of your wedding dress and both of you collapse on the bed hoping to catch a few hours of sleep before your sister picks you up at 5:30 to take you to the airport so you can finally go on your wonderful honeymoon. you waited so long Two flights, three taxis and one boat later, you’re finally there!

You can finally relax, you did it. So now it’s time for all the sex you heard you were supposed to have on your honeymoon. After all, you have to be right? You just missed it on the wedding night! But you will find that after months and weeks of planning every detail of the wedding and the hustle and bustle of the days leading up to it, you are completely physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted! So what happens is you spend the first 2-3 days of your honeymoon allowing yourself to relax, rejuvenate and let your head come down from the clouds. Halfway through your honeymoon and still no sex, and you realize you don’t have time because you have the rest of your vacation to enjoy – new places to see, new adventures to try, etc…

You come home and realize that not only did you not have sex on your wedding night, you didn’t even have sex on your honeymoon! Oh my! You may find this unbelievable, but it has happened to me and I have a few friends who have been brave enough to admit that it has happened to them too. At least 3 out of 3 of my friends admitted to experiencing the same phenomenon! All three ended up divorced, hmmm, I wonder if that’s related!

So next time, if there is a next time, I will focus less on the wedding and more on the honeymoon!
