Weight Loss Without Diet
How many times have you tried dieting? I can’t remember how many weight loss methods I’ve tried. As a “normal” woman, I have long tried to lose weight for 47 years of my life. Unfortunately, I am not one of those people who are born with the metabolism that allows them to eat just about anything and not gain weight. Whenever I indulge in food and drink, my body will dutifully convert any extra calories into fat. However – and here’s the good news – I’ve managed to keep my weight under control over the years. I’m 1.75m tall and weigh about 60kg (for the US this would be 5’9″ and 132lbs). If I can do it, you can too. My tip: Forget all dieting and satisfy your body and soul.
My Qualifications: You may ask my qualifications for writing about weight loss without dieting: I’m not a nutrition expert. But I have been a professional journalist for newspapers and radio in Germany for ten years, so I am educated in collecting and processing information.
Also, I’ve struggled with weight issues for years. Growing up, I went through a two-year “anorexia nervosa” phase, although I was not properly diagnosed and treated at this time. Fortunately, it didn’t last long. When I got divorced at 29, my eating disorder came to the surface again due to binge eating. This time I went to psychotherapy and it helped a lot.

Dieting will only make you fat.

However, for the average person, dieting is too restrictive to be successful over a long period of time. Who wants to weigh every bit before eating? Who wants to eat what the diet tells you? Dieting leaves no room for urges, cravings, or appetites, so dieting gives us a constant sense of dissatisfaction and restraint.
I’m a firm believer that a lean body can only be achieved with a satisfied, well-nourished body. Our bodies express their needs through cravings. When thinking about strawberries makes me drool, I think, my body needs strawberries, and only strawberries can give me the most satisfaction and make me feel round and healthy.
When you diet, your body gets used to low calorie intake. Once you start eating normally again, your body will happily put on weight and all your hard work will go down the drain. This is especially true for any kind of fast or crash diet: I once fasted completely for three weeks and lost all the weight I wanted to lose. However, my slim figure only lasted a week. When I started eating again, my body absorbed all the calories it had been denied before – a very frustrating experience, not to mention the exhausting mental battle of not eating for three weeks.
In my experience, before losing any extra pounds, you have to understand why your body looks the way it does.
Reasons for being overweight:
There are many reasons for being overweight, but I dare say this: Most of the excess weight we carry with us stems from our psychology. When we take life too seriously, we tend to gain weight. Are you carrying too much responsibility? Do you always want to do more than you can? Or are you suffering from depression without knowing it?
If we really want to change our weight, we have to look within ourselves. Maybe you just enjoy the food pleasures in your life too much and put on some weight. On the other hand, why do you need to comfort yourself with food or drink?
Now this sounds obvious, like pseudo-psychology, but I’ve been there and I know what I’m talking about. If you’ve struggled with your weight for years (whether you’re actually overweight or not), you should seek the help of a good therapist or get psychological help in whatever way is available. The compassionate ear of a friend cannot be underestimated.
You Can Only Lose Weight When You Discover What’s Really Making You Fat.
I further believe that a major cause of weight gain is the sheer amount of chemicals mixed into modern food. It starts with various dextrose and malt syrups that go straight from your mouth into your bloodstream and from there into your buttocks.
Then there are all the preservatives that wreak havoc on the digestive system. Consider the nature of a preservative: Its job is to keep food from being spoiled by bacteria. Unfortunately, our digestive system also works with the help of bacteria. I can’t imagine that food full of preservatives can be easily digested or provide enough nutrients for our body.
When you over enjoy eating out, you tend to eat a lot of unhealthy fats. Have you checked which oils are used in restaurant kitchens? I would venture to say that anyone trying to stay healthy should not be eating at a restaurant or fast food place every day.
Another cause of being overweight can be an undetected yeast infection of the digestive system. Yeast infections are widespread these days and you can easily catch them in any public place. They are very difficult to get rid of. Candida albicans tends to invade the digestive tract and absorb nutrients from the food we eat. The result can be frequent food cravings and overeating.
How to Stay Thin or Lose Weight: Speaking of which, let me tell you how I keep my weight off without dieting — and I love to eat and drink. For all those who claim to have weight loss foods, I want to confirm the following (sure, it’s hard to gain weight eating only leafy greens or green beans, but who wants to live like that?):

If you’re trying to lose weight, reduce the portion sizes you eat — but don’t say no to anything. Satisfy your appetite and cravings, whether it’s chocolate pie or french fries. Just don’t eat too many of these guilty pleasures. Stop in after a small piece of pie or a few french fries. Our stomachs are creatures of habit: Once they get used to smaller portions, you’ll feel satisfied. Permanent weight loss is always a slow process, so you should be prepared to eat less in the long run.
1. Exercise. When people ask me how I’ve stayed slim over the years, I answer: I don’t eat much and I go to the gym at least 3 times a week. There is absolutely no substitute for exercise. Our bodies need exercise to function properly. Exercise raises the heart rate, which brings more blood and nutrients to our cells. Our metabolism and hormone production improve with exercise. You’ll feel good and relaxed after a good workout. It doesn’t matter what kind of exercise you do, the important thing is to get your body moving and your heart beating faster. I’ve never considered myself a sports person, but I love sweating in the gym because I feel good afterwards. Fortunately, exercising can be addictive: Once you get hooked on the great post-workout feeling, you start enjoying it.
2. The magic of love: Falling in love is the easiest way to lose weight. When we fall in love normally, we lose a few kilos without knowing it. Unfortunately, while you can work hard to love yourself, this type of weight loss cannot be programmed. When was the last time you pampered yourself? When was the last time you told yourself how cute you were? Have you ever looked at your bare breasts and told yourself how beautiful you are? Remember: Sex is one of the best ways to stay lean. If you’re lucky enough to live with your spouse, do everything you can to spice up your sex life. There are many publications available, just check out which one is right for you. If you’re one, there’s no reason to despair. Sexual activity with yourself can be a joyful weight loss exercise anytime, anywhere. Be your own best friend and lover – you know best what turns you on.
3. Avoid sugar and empty carbs: Sugar, white flour, rice, and other grains that don’t have natural fiber go straight from the stomach into the bloodstream. They raise blood sugar levels and keep you energized until the sugar runs out and your energy drops. Then you need more sugar to give you another kick. A diet high in sugar and empty carbs can leave you eating all day without ever feeling truly full and satisfied. Of course, the occasional ice cream, cookie or pie is one of the joie de vivre and should be appreciated — but not considered a normal part of a healthy diet.
4. Eat more fiber and drink more water: This allows you to combine your digestion with exercise. When you eat enough fiber and drink water at the same time, you’ll never complain about constipation. Healthy bowel movements are absolutely essential to feeling good. If food stays in the body for too long, waste builds up. Don’t forget to drink water when eating fiber: fiber without fluid can clog your digestive system.
5. Take lactic acid bacteria: The bacteria in your gut help break down food and nourish your body so it doesn’t need to accumulate fat. If you take lactic acid bacteria in one form or another every day, you will rarely complain of bloating or excessive gas. Lactobacillus is now available in many forms and I have found it to be very helpful for a variety of ailments. Take capsules if you do not like curd or other dairy products.
6. Avoid big meals: Of course, it’s nice to have the occasional five- or six-course meal when celebrating or just when you feel like it. What would life be without indulgences? However, it is best to eat small and frequent meals every day. Spread out your calorie intake throughout the day and don’t eat too late.

9. Vitamins and Minerals: Take supplements as recommended by your doctor to make sure you’re getting enough vitamins and minerals.
10. The last is obvious: Don’t drink too much alcohol; eat more vegetables and fruits, and get enough sleep. If you can’t sleep properly, feel tired or unhappy, you may be suffering from depression and/or hormonal imbalances. Go to your doctor and get help. Research your symptoms online and ask your doctor.
