I get a lot of questions about Medifast’s “Lean Green Meats”. It’s a big meal that company wants you to prepare yourself so you get fresh food and the nutrients your body needs. Yes, prepackaged Medifast meals are fortified and rich in vitamins and minerals, but fresh food is always the best choice. People wondered if they could skip the meal, or if they could substitute a prepackaged “Medifast meal” for lean meats and greens. People also asked if they could just use freezer meals for this request, since they really like having meals prepared for them. I will address these issues in the next article.
Why people might consider skipping or replacing lean and green meals: I have many reasons, but here are the most common. Sometimes people think they can save calories or carbs if they only add a sixth serving of prepackaged food. The whole idea is to get fresh food. And, there comes a time when you lose all the weight you need, and then you enter a transition or maintenance phase. One way to set yourself up for success is to learn how to make good choices and how to prepare healthy meals. You’re going to have to master this skill eventually, so you better start now.
Honestly, being lean and green doesn’t have to be that hard or inconvenient. You can make it as easy as using an indoor grill, adding some lean meat and throwing in a bagged salad. Or, you can craft and take advantage of the vast collection of recipes that already exist. There’s a lot of flexibility here, but it’s important to understand why there is such a requirement. Companies want you to eat fresh foods, and they want you to eventually learn how to prepare them so you can maintain your weight in the long run.
