Skinny Guys – 5 Tips to Gain Muscle Fast
I was always looking for ways to build muscle fast. This article hits close to home for me, I was a skinny guy who always wanted to get ripped but never got around to it. Until I learned a few key lessons that I want to share with you today.
There is so much focus on losing weight and burning fat these days that there is often nowhere to turn for a skinny guy who wants to gain muscle. Then the skinny guy finds the boosters and tries them or some other crappy supplement and never really understands why he’s not big and muscular like the other guys at the gym.
Well, hard gainers, there is hope for you! Here are my 5 ways to build muscle fast for skinny guys
1) Max. 10 repetitions
If you are lifting more than 10 reps, then you are actually using more of your slow twitch muscles. Keep your weights heavy and don’t exceed 10 reps. You need to hit the maximum amount of muscle fibers. If your goal is to really get ripped, then you need to get into heavyweight mode.
2) Fast and intense
Hardgainer workouts have to be intense, you don’t have to spend two hours a day in the gym to grow your lean muscles. Your sets need to be done closer together, I generally believe in 30-60 seconds rest between sets. Between different exercises, try to set up and start the first repetition in about 2 minutes.
For starters, you may feel out of your comfort zone. Trust me though, this single tip alone will dramatically increase muscle density over the next month or two.

3) Max out only once per muscle group
You don’t have to go to failure every time you lift a weight. You want to keep your muscles stimulated and in growth mode. However, you don’t want to rip them to shreds, so they will take 2 weeks to return. This is not effective muscle building and is not one of the ways to build muscle fast.
If you do one heavy exercise and go to failure, then you’ll be aiming for about 90% of the way to failure, and the rest you’ll be doing more than enough to stimulate the muscles. For example, if you train your shoulders and do push-ups and upright rows in one day. Choose your presses and go to failure on them. However, don’t go wrong with upright rows and anything else you do for your shoulders.
4) Focus on compound exercises
Shrugs and leg extensions will never build the muscles you want. This is not one of the ways to build muscle fast. Sure there’s time for it, but let’s face it, you’re doing it because they’re easier than you should be doing.
Your hardgainer workouts must focus on the following types of exercises. Legs – Squats and Deadlifts (these are the most important of all) Chest – Bench Press and Back Dips – Rows and Pull-ups or Pull-ups Shoulders – Presses
It’s so simple that you can vary these exercises by doing them from different angles and in different orders, but these are the exercises that will make you stronger. So easy.

5) Put on several plates
You should keep a journal, I suggest you take a little journal with you to the gym. Maintain a routine and track your reps/sets and weights. You can also jot down little notes like how your muscles felt etc.
This way you can track your progress. You should aim to increase your weight by about 5% every other week. You simply have to keep improving to build and stimulate those muscles. Especially if you are a hard gainer trying to get ripped.
