Get 6 Pack Abs by Removing 6 Bad Eating Habits

Willpower is one of the KEY ingredients to anything in life, but especially when it comes to exercise, diet, nutrition and more. I wish you had more willpower to get out of debt and then eat healthy and exercise. Sure, getting out of debt is a HUGE deal, but so is increasing your life expectancy.

Guys and girls often fall into particular bad eating habits which when combined every day, week, month and year keep your pounds and abs from ever appearing. Doesn’t it drive you crazy to walk through the magazine section of a supermarket or store and see men and women flaunting their lean and ripped physiques? I know it does for me. But like everything in life, you have to start taking small steps to see progress. Start small…and as you go you start making better choices and before you know it…you have the results you want.

Below are a number of bad eating habits that we, as humans, tend to do and should get rid of as quickly as possible. I’m sure if you’re reading this article, this applies to you:

6 bad eating habits to break for 6 pack abs

1. Speed Eating

In short, the faster you eat, the less time your body and mind have to determine “how much” you’ve eaten. So when you’ve progressed from lesson #1 and into lesson #2, assuming you’re eating too fast your body/brain didn’t have time to say “wow, wait a minute…let’s relax here”. Before you know it…you’ve eaten 2000 calories and you don’t feel “full”. We’ve all been there. Eat slower, enjoy your food. If you can’t enjoy it, eat smaller portions.

2. Alcohol consumption

No, I’m not saying cut out alcohol completely (although I personally think that would be a fantastic move), but how many times do you intend to ‘have a beer’ or ‘a glass of wine’ and before you know it 3 – 4 beers gone or missing half a bottle of Chardonnay. Guess what… you’ve cut a TON of calories. Note every time you have a drink. So you have 2 drinks a night, big deal right? Well, multiple times every day of the week and that can be 2000+ calories in your system. You need to burn 3500 calories to lose 1 kg of weight.

3. Skipping meals or snacks

It’s natural to think that by not eating, you’ll lose weight, but that’s a horrible myth that people follow. When you skip meals, your body starts trying to manage your appetite. It also causes your “hunger” to kick in, which, as we all know, makes your willpower falter. Also, you have to eat to lose weight. Yes, I said it, but you have to eat smart. The right mix of carbohydrates, fats and proteins. Spread smaller snacks/meals throughout the day, every 2-3 hours. Keep the portions small, but it will curb your hunger and fuel your body in the process.

4. Eating salty snacks

First, if you’re eating something you KNOW is salty, it’s probably not healthy at all. Sodium is one of those things that bites you in the you-know-what because it builds up so slowly. You eat this or that throughout the day without thinking about the sodium content and before you know it you’re well over your recommended allowance. Add in things like popcorn at the movies or that quick bag of chips out the door, and your waistline will swell. Salt also causes your body to retain water, so if you want to show off your 6-pack abs, eating a bunch of salt will kill that idea.

5. Bargain on the weekends

People often use their weekends as ‘down time’, and understandably so, as a hectic work week drains you mentally and physically. The downside is that people relax “too much” and allow themselves to snack and get away. This is especially true when you’re going to a barbeque with the neighbors, a birthday party, or just hanging out. How many times do you go to parties and “graze”. You walk around the food court picking up food, but over time all those calories add up and before you know it…BOOM you’re full. Eat something healthy before going to a party and it will help keep that bad food at bay.

6. Eating in front of the TV – Sleep

Everyone is guilty of this. You’re trying to relax after a hard day at the office, your favorite show is on, or you’ve just put on your favorite blue ray disc and you’ve got that bag of chips in your lap. Before you know it, half the bag is gone, the 2 beers you drank are empty, and you’re off to bed. Your body needs at least 2 hours awake after your last meal. Your body is naturally burning calories, even just sitting there. By being awake, your body burns calories to maintain your organs, walking, breathing, etc… So eat your last meal around 7-8pm. in the evening and at 10 pm you can start going to bed. If you fall asleep after eating, all the calories you just consumed won’t burn as quickly.

Do what you can to remove these 6 bad eating habits and I can 100% promise that your 6 pack abs will come with a healthy diet and exercise program.
