Jack LaLanne the "Godfather of Fitness" Didn’t Run Marathons

The godfather of training, Jack LaLanne, never talked about long distance running or marathons; he never talked about bench pressing 400lbs, he trained with light weights and 1000 calisthenics and did tons of swimming and had amazing performances.

According to today’s experts, high rep training only builds endurance, also you can’t tell once someone lifts a weight that it’s considered strength training, no matter what weight they’re using.

But by the experts and by today’s standard, you would think that the only weight your body responds to is a barbell or kettlebell, thinking high rep training is somehow inferior, that it is only useful in low rep training like powerlifting.

But Jack LaLanne could do thousands of calisthenics, swim miles in open water. LaLanne trained until he was exhausted, until he could do no more reps.

No one has challenged Jack LaLanne with his results, but the experts and nothing will challenge others who train in the same brutal way.

I’ve never heard of Jack LaLanne complaining about wear and tear, never heard of extensive injury stories, just theories of people trying to push their training theories.

The problem is that people spend more time resting in training than actually working. They taught us that we need to spend a lot of time recovering between sets in order to get the next rep count.

The fitness elite don’t spend more time resting than training, so most people are on par in terms of their fitness. You exercise like everyone else; will be the results you get.

High rep calisthenics are hard to do, they will mentally and physically try and beat you. To get to a great level of fitness, you must always push your limits.

Most people let others decide what they are capable of; I’m looking at an elite figure. I look up to men who have pushed their own limits and given others the opportunity to believe it can be done.

The body is made to move, no one sets the limits of what you and your body can do, only your mind and what you believe can be done and what you are willing to try will determine how far you can go.
