Feel Sexy Amidst Holiday Hoopla
The holidays are the busiest time of year for most people. With holiday parties, family gatherings, excess food, cookies, and less time for ourselves, it’s no wonder that the holiday season is the most popular time to lose weight and get in shape: New Years!
Women of all ages agree that the hardest time to stay in shape is the holidays. Between holiday parties, family gatherings, and shopping, there’s little time left to hit the gym. Plus, along with these events come amazing meals, sweets you’ve been waiting for all year, and special holiday cocktails. The bottom line is that not only do we gain weight and stress about making our New Year’s resolution, but we also don’t feel as confident and sexy about our bodies because we don’t take care of ourselves.
During the holidays, there are some simple tricks you can do to minimize any weight gain and stay fit and feeling great:
- Instead of trying to carve out an hour to get to the gym, be happy if you’re able to squeeze in even 15 minutes of a workout. Something is better than nothing. And research shows that when you exercise, no matter how much or how long, you FEEL BETTER ABOUT YOURSELF.
- Take a few minutes a day for “me time”. With all the extra events and shopping during the holiday season, sometimes the last thing we want to do is take a quick break. However, it is what we need MOST in busy and stressful times.
- DRINK YOUR WATER. With the temperatures dropping, it’s easy to forget to drink your H2O. But your body still needs the same amount of water it did when you were sweating in the summer. This will also help with digestion and give you more energy.
- Eat your cookies, but be sure to eat a piece of fruit BEFORE. Fill up on something good and healthy before indulging in sweets.
- Stop your workouts. Lift hand weights for five minutes one day, do lunges the next, etc. Small chunks of exercise will keep your body moving and signal that even with the extra calories, you’re still active.
- Do whatever you want. With so many invitations, events that feel like “obligations,” and family gatherings, it’s easy to feel trapped and out of control of your schedule. But, your life IS your life, so do what you want. It’s not the end of the world if you leave a party early or don’t make it to your friend’s cookie baking night.
