The Titan 1000 XD Metal Detector Review

This review method is a new method for me. I gave this machine to Shirley, who is eleven years old. It only took me five minutes to give her some basic instructions on metal detector use, pinpointing, and recovery techniques, then put her (and two other kids equipped with Fisher and Garrett starters) in the back quarter of the church An acre of play area to relax. Before sharing the extraordinary digital discoveries that Shelly made, let’s take a look at the Titan 1000 XD.

The Titan 1000 XD is advertised as four detectors in one, and for good reason. First, it has an auto-tuning feature. Second, it has automatic ground balancing. Third, it has auto-pitch technology, and fourth, it has automatic target recognition. It can be used to find all types of treasure, but I find it best as a starter coin dropper. The automatic preset function makes it a true switch-on detector. It also features user depth adjustment for adjustments in two-inch (2,4,6) increments up to six inches deep. That doesn’t mean the instrument can only find things under six inches. In fact, I unearthed about 10 inches of coin-sized objects. The Titan is part of an attractive, lightweight and user-friendly new tech hobby machine. They cost only slightly less than starters from the big four US manufacturers, and don’t look like rugged machines for rough terrain hunting. Appearances, however, can be deceiving. It’s a good deep machine with lots of treasure to be found. As I mentioned before, I took three young men for about 1 hour and 15 minutes to the play area behind the church to field test the Titan and compare it to the other two units.

Shelly uses a Titan 1000 XD, Kevin uses a Garrett Ace 150 and Cage uses a Fisher 1212X. The hunted area was used for our Easter metal detection project and buried over $250.00 in US coins. A children’s hunt on Easter Sunday uncovered more than $200.00 in coins and there may be three hundred more still buried in the quarter-acre site, most of which were buried only a few inches deep for this treasure hunt. I gave the trio five minutes of pre-hunt training instruction and then let them breathe a sigh of relief. They happily found the coins and I was amazed at the results. Using Garrett, Kevin finds 45 coins totaling 4.59 cents (11 cents, 10 cents, 15 cents, 9p). Using Fisher, Cage found 65 coins totaling $7.92 (23 quarters, 15 dimes, 10 nickels, 17 pence). Using the Titan, Shelly found 110 coins totaling $11.38 (32 quarters, 20 dimes, 20 nickels, 38 pennies), much to the astonishment of both boys. That’s more than 1.5 coins found per minute. All three are new to using detectors, and Kevin is the only one of the three who has one. He won the Garrett 150 at a children’s church race in January. He is a very proud sophomore. Any treasure hunter would be proud of Shirley’s results. It’s not shabby to find $10.00 an hour. She pinpointed it with ease using the Titan 1000 XD and found exactly twice as many coins as the boy. To make sure the testing process was accurate with respect to the coins I found, I spray painted one side of all 2,500 coins I buried for the Easter Treasure Hunt. Now that there are less than 80 buried coins left from the Easter promotion, Kevin will have a chance to find the rest himself.

The Titan 1000 XD, made by a company in Texas, performed so well on this children’s adventure that Shirley knew what she was digging for almost every time she retrieved a coin. Some buried coins gave her false readings. I would recommend this detector without reservation to new enthusiasts, or as a fun machine for veterans. This is “dig it”!
