Watch Body Affirming TV Like "How to Look Good Naked" – Tip 14 – Be Curvy and Confident at Any Size
It’s not easy for plus size women to live in our quick fix, thin body in a media driven, pluck and fold, chop and discard, diet obsessed society. Most women battling excess weight find themselves locked in a private body battle, playing the body comparison game with every girl they see. They’ve almost certainly drawn the stub, and they’re miserable with themselves. This manifests in obsession with food and weight, “not in the mood”, overwhelmed by mental and/or physical confusion, “doormat syndrome”, avoidance of social activities, fear of intimacy, low libido, trust issues, risk aversion, and There’s a general lack of self-confidence, not to mention how it can undermine the very foundation of an entire family.
With their tattered body image and exhausted self-image, many accomplished and powerful women silently resent their mirrors, fear their weight, hate their bodies, and wish they were thinner. Nearly four in five American women today say they hate their bodies, research shows. That’s 80 percent of the entire US female population. Are you one of them? If you are, I have a great body image booster blast for you!
60 Minute Self-Image Makeover – Lifetime reality show, “How to Look Good Naked”
Great news, America! Lifetime TV has a hugely popular reality TV series called How to Look Good Naked (HTLGN) originally created in the UK, became a whirlwind hit, and came to the US Enter Carson Kressley, an openly Gay, he was a professional stylist and fashion designer to the stars. A former co-host of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and an actor, his hilariously playful approach and approach to empowering women and coaching them to love their bodies has made him the star of Lifetime’s new show “Take It From Me.” Go, girl” was the perfect host. It’s a 60-minute self-image makeover that’s guaranteed to leave you feeling the tingle as it makes you question all your irrational beliefs about your body.
It focuses on creating internal transformation by leading women to see themselves differently and freeing them from old negative fat and ugly self images. I was moved to tears when I saw this show. Inspired by sharing women’s stories with readers, I reached out to several of the show’s contributors (nominees) and asked to interview them.
The plan for the show is that over the course of 5 days, each woman will learn how to dress to flatter her body shape, find the right base layer for a perfect figure, and get makeup and hair done for maximum impact. Each episode celebrates transformation with glamorous Hollywood-style photos in which women not only accept what they see in the mirror, but show it off naked.
In my opinion, these women are true role models, very brave, willing to go on national TV, share a lot about themselves, open up, expose their vulnerabilities, and let other women know they are not alone. To inspire and encourage my readers, I’ve included their interviews in my forthcoming book, Falling in Love with Your Skin. Here are excerpts from Shannon’s story:
Many people sighed at her big fat thighs – “I’m so embarrassed to be seen in a bathing suit.” -Shannon
Shannon Flores is 29 years old. She is a beautiful, curvaceous plus-size woman who lives in sunny California with her husband Jeremy and four children Ryan, Samantha, Caitlin and Kayla. Although she has a pool in her backyard, she never enjoyed it until HTLGN because it was embarrassing to be seen by her husband or neighbors in a bathing suit. After having four children, back to back, she said, “My boobs got saggy. My hips got bigger. My thighs got bigger. My butt got bigger. Every part of my body felt like it was falling apart, Isn’t that fun? What babies do to your body.”
close yourself tightly in the box
Like many other women, Shannon put other people before her as a busy wife and mother. Hiding behind oversized, drab, drab mom clothes, she refuses to spend money on anything new, hoping to lose weight one day. For years, Shannon was ridiculed by her own negative self-talk, and she tortured herself by focusing on her own imperfections. Shannon, who shuns mirrors, bathing suits and anything that reveals her curvaceous figure, admits that the physical contact with her husband has been less than she would have liked, saying, “It’s definitely getting in the way of our relationship. I still don’t feel comfortable with the lights out.” Comfortable.” Close yourself tightly in a box. She knew she wasn’t really alive and admitted to being ashamed and disgusted with her body and didn’t want her husband to actually see her naked. So she nominated herself to be on the show.
During our interview, Shannon shared with me candidly, “When they put pictures of my body on the truck, they asked everyone, ‘What did you see? What do you see? Nobody said, “You know she’s perfect. She has a model’s body. Because I don’t know. But they point out the good. Look at her eyes. Look at her complexion. Look at this. Look at that. I started to realize that I was okay. My body wasn’t just my thighs. That wasn’t what everyone was focusing on.” So I started to realize that I needed to start looking at life that way too. I need to start paying attention to all the positive things, even if they are small. I just need to point those out and start paying more attention to those. “
Shannon now swims or sunbathes in her pool at least twice a week, saying: “I don’t care. I walk around my front yard in my bathing suit. Life is too short to worry about what other people think I. After the birth of her last child, she regained 30 of the 60 pounds she lost with Weight Watchers: “I’m fine. I feel great. I look fine and I won’t be trying to lose weight anymore. When I asked her if she had any specific advice for women who are the same now as they were then, she said, “Just feel good about who you are right now, in the moment.”
Here are some fashion tips that Shannon shared with me, plus some extra content from the How to Look Good Naked website. If you want to look curvier and more confident at any size, follow these tips:

emphasize the positive Carson recommends accentuating small waists and large hips by wearing a fitted jacket tied at the waist, and for shorter women like Shannon, aim for the jacket to just cover the hips or cut it short.
for hourglass numbers -Wear a wrap dress to accentuate your curves, and knee-high boots with jeans will lengthen your body and balance out your curvy hips.To define a small waist, choose a cropped shirt with a V-neck
Suitable for plus size women – Choose monochromatic garments for a slimming effect. Wear skirts that narrow and flare out at the hem for balance. Draw attention to the center of your body by wearing a bright top under your jacket. Try on clothes in different shapes and colors.
Bust with Bam! – To flatter your curves and create balance, use a scoop neck to draw attention away from your bust, use high armholes on your jacket to create a more balanced, slimmer silhouette, and wear a delicate necklace that sits right on top of your cleavage
for the upper arm – Wear open neck wrap tops to flatter the cleavage and waist area. Three quarters of the sleeve reveals only the thinnest part of the arm. The Puff Shoulder Jacket has a looser fit at the armholes.
