Unfortunately, the desire to lose weight quickly is often at the heart of “yo-yo” dieting syndrome, where you end up losing no weight at all.

Let’s say you found a crash diet that was all the rage. Everyone above seems to be losing weight. So you think, ‘I should give it a try, it works for me too. ‘ So off you go, completely change your eating habits. All you have is a very small, strict range of foods. The worst part is that because you’ve made such a drastic change from long-standing habits, the longer you stick to the diet, the harder it will be to keep up. You start battling your emotions. Soon it won’t just be about the food. You start to feel like this diet is taking away your freedom, and you have a strong urge and desire to break free.

You and I both know what happens next and you end up saying, ‘A small slice of pizza won’t hurt, I’ve been fine and I’m going back to this diet right after. ’ So you go eat that slice of pizza.

But it doesn’t stop there.

After you eat a piece of pizza, you think, ‘Oh, another piece won’t hurt anyone. Then the floodgates open.

You’ve let go of your cravings, and you’ve scoured the house for every piece of junk food you’ve been keeping yourself from eating. Everything is falling. Before you know it, you’re right back where you started.

What is the problem? The problem is that dieting is always a short-term measure, it never becomes something we habitually do over and over again for the rest of our lives.

Seriously, if people thought about this before deciding to start a diet, would any diet on the market still exist? The truth is, it takes long-term habituation to allow your body to carry such a large amount of weight. Right there, your own body has given you the exact blueprint for how to lose it.

You have to develop new habits, but this time, the habits must allow you to achieve and maintain your ideal weight. I know it might be a bit tedious, and it’s not the panacea that’s been hyped, but it’s the truth. It’s up to you. If you want to use one of the newest products on the market, great, use it. Always make sure you remember that any weight you lose is because you have to, not because this gadget will do the work for you. Use this gadget to create a lifestyle habit that will not only help you lose weight, but lose weight as well. This way you improve your self-esteem while losing weight because you did it, not some product or service. This is the secret to lasting weight loss.
