You can sit on the couch and imagine the ball floating in the air, but nature tells us it will fall. The same is true when it comes to our weight.
This is one of the most common weight loss myths. It’s illogical to think that your health and weight will be in balance if your nutrition consists mostly of sandwiches, chips, and donuts. Of course you can burn it off by exercising, but most people whose diets consist mainly of junk food probably aren’t disciplined enough to keep exercising. I do know people who, from the looks of it, are in good shape because they aren’t “fat” but have high cholesterol.
I’m only saying this because I’m sorry for breaking the hearts of so many twin lovers. You can eat junk food, cookies, chips, ice cream, pizza, burgers…all of these “soul food” but in moderation. Anything in excess is not a good thing.

Whenever I get hungry at night, as I do with other meals during the day, I try to choose natural foods. Things like fruit, veggies, or I might even make myself a fruit smoothie. In those moments when I’m craving ice cream or something sweet, I allow myself some and don’t feel guilty about it. Many overweight people live with guilt and shame. However, I allow myself some in moderation.

It made all the difference for me once I realized that I was enough in God’s eyes and I didn’t need to prove myself to anyone or accept external validation of my self-worth. Once you accept who you are and realize that you are enough in God’s eyes, you won’t feel unaccepted because of your weight.

You can definitely have your favorite food. Depriving yourself of this pleasure is no fun, and frankly, you’ll probably eat it anyway. As mentioned earlier, the real key is moderation. If you are a steak lover, eating steak once a day may not be the best choice, but once or twice a week may be the best choice. Anyone who knows me knows that I love chicken wings and pizza. In a perfect world where I wasn’t gaining any weight and my arteries weren’t clogged, I’d love to eat a few times a week, more like every day. However, I know these aren’t the healthiest food choices, so I eat them about 2-3 times a month. I don’t give up my favorite food, I just eat it in moderation so it doesn’t catch up to me in the form of excess weight.

You may actually be getting your needs met through food. For example, if you’re living alone and not very happy, food may be a way to make you feel happy and comforted.
