The two most important contributors to the childhood obesity plague that afflicts children in our country and others are nutrition and exercise. But in a modern world of Big Macs, curly fries, milkshakes, soda pops, candy bars, cookies, ice cream, and sugary cereal, who can really be sure if their kids are falling prey to polluting the world or Resist their anti-nutritional temptations?

In fact, you can buy one of these extremely simple solutions for as little as $10 to $15 at K-Mart, Wal-Mart, or Costco. It takes almost no space, almost no time, and being a rocket scientist isn’t a prerequisite for knowing how to use this gizmo. In fact, I’ve personally seen kindergarteners handle one of these babies with ease.

The technical name for this wonderful little machine for childhood obesity prevention is the “Pull-Up Bar.” Generally, it’s a round, chrome-plated tube designed to lock over the top of a home or school doorway. In fact, this particular location is so common that many of these machines are actually called “DOORWAY PULL-UP-BARS.”
The trick is to use it
Once locked in place, there are no moving parts. That means the machine will cost next to nothing to maintain and will likely last decades, if not longer. As with most gym equipment, the real trick with the pull-up bar is actually using it. It pays off that the participant is relatively strong and light, and the feedback happens automatically every time you grab the bar and see how many times you can pull your own weight with your body.
