I know you’ve been trying to lose weight for a while. Your doctor suggests that you should go on a diet to lose some weight. How do you know if you are overweight?

A client asked me this question last week:

“My BMI is 24. I’m happy and healthy. Do you think I should lose weight?”

This question got me thinking. If someone is leading a healthy life, there is no need to lose weight. In scientific terms, when your doctor invites you to lose weight, he wants you to avoid:

  • heart disease
  • elevated cholesterol levels
  • hypertension
  • diabetes

If you are able to stay healthy despite gaining weight; there is no need to worry about excess pounds.

However, this is not the case. Most people want to lose weight because they want to look smart and attractive. There is nothing wrong with their health, but they don’t feel beautiful.

To lead a healthy life, our bodies store fat for use in the reproductive system, protecting nerves and tissues, and storing energy. it does not matter. However, excess fat storage can affect your health and figure.

BMI (Body Mass Index) is a measurement that gives results based on your height and weight. However, BMI tells us nothing about pregnancy, bodybuilding, and many other factors. There are many tests, including fat analysis, metabolism checks, and more. These tests can determine if you are overweight.

If you are overweight and have excess fat, it can lead to health risks.

This is where the word weight loss comes in handy. Research old and new shows that eating more calories and burning fewer calories is the most common cause of weight gain. The increased number of calories are stored in the thighs and buttocks, leading to weight gain. This is the most widely known definition of “weight gain.”

The term obesity means that you weigh more than the ideal weight for a particular height. Millions of Americans are overweight or obese. To address their obesity, the term weight loss was introduced. Losing extra pounds is called weight loss. However, this can be done in a million ways:

  • go on a diet
  • exercise
  • tonic
  • yoga
  • Chinese traditions such as acupuncture and other therapeutic terms
  • Join a gym/weight loss center
  • Combining Diet and Exercise

You can see that the term weight loss includes all of these factors. For effective weight loss, all of these factors should be combined and acted upon. But before you take action, you have to know what losing weight means to you. This is very important. If you want to live a healthy life, then you should never go on a crash diet. For the most part, people want to look smart, which is why they use programs like 24-hour weight loss. Whichever you choose, it largely depends on your reasons for losing weight.
