Q #1: Is it a good idea to do lots of cardio if you’re eating too many calories in a day?

I don’t like to think of exercise as a form of punishment or purge for overeating.

Here are 2 ways to better solve it:

1) If this happens once a month, it’s no big deal. Go on with your normal life and be consistent with your regular exercise regime.

2) If this happens once a week, or multiple times a week, then there is a nutritional behavior issue that needs to be corrected, and excessive exercise is not the answer.

Build your body, don’t beat it.

Q #2: What is the best interval training program for fat loss?

Reply:

No interval training method has been proven to be the best way to lose fat…but of course, interval training will lose fat faster than regular cardio.

So using different intervals to lose fat is like using different repetition ranges to build muscle. This is what I like.

This way, you train your muscle metabolism in three different energy systems, putting your body in the ultimate fat-burning turbulence. This ensures you’ll maximize your metabolism while burning more calories – as well as carbs and fat – during and after your workout. So forget about HR zone myths about fat loss. It’s all intervals of intensity.

Question #3: Craig, I started your beginner fat burner workout a few weeks ago (I’ll be finishing the 4 weeks this week, and then I plan on doing the 4 week advanced fat burner).

In the past 14 months, I have lost 85 lbs. During my weight loss period, I started walking almost every day, followed by bodyweight exercises, and some hill climbing in addition to walking. Use the dumbbells intermittently. Some nice progress has been made. I need to keep losing 20-30 lbs. It’s all background.

My problem is I’ve been reading that people around 50 (I’m 49) need more recovery time between workouts. I feel great doing the Turbulence Training workouts – just checking in to see if you have any suggestions for these workouts for someone my age. I think I’m fine doing 3 times a week because the intensity is high but not for long.

Any insight would be helpful. I just want to keep doing something that I can stick with for a long time.

Everything sounds fine. Fortunately, fat burning training is designed to give you more recovery than traditional body part training 5 days a week. Utilize rest day recovery methods (dog walk, dog walk, etc.).

Take a week off every few months, do a low-intensity high-intensity workout, and do something different to improve your recovery.
