Antiaging Pitfall #1 – Fighting Aging Without Enthusiasm or Full Acceptance of the Aging Process

“A passion for fighting aging?” you say. “Of course I have a passion for antiaging. Why do you think I spend hundreds of dollars on products and procedures?”

Let’s get one thing clear—the enthusiasm for antiaging and looking 10 years younger has nothing to do with how many products you buy or how many plastic surgeon visits you schedule. Anti-Aging Passion Begins in the Brain:

Example: Every morning when I wake up, the first thing I think about is anti-aging. I’m always researching, researching and putting to the test ideas to stay young and alive. I love it so much, I think about antiaging every day and trying to look 10 years younger.

Now I know everyone won’t or can’t wake up with brain antiaging. There are kids in school, jobs to go, bills to pay; the list goes on and on.

But to really achieve any level of antiaging, you have to have some passion for it.

Why?

Because passion for anything, whether it’s looking 10 years younger, losing weight, or getting a promotion, starts in the brain. When you set your mind to achieve something, your mind instantly goes into overdrive, coming up with ideas to make that plan a reality. Passion is the fuel that drives this process. The more passionate you are about an idea, the more likely you are to realize it.

Unfortunately, antiaging, or trying to look 10 years or more younger, can quickly lose steam. This is because many people believe that there are only a few options for truly staying young. Once they start getting old, they think their only options are plastic surgery or Botox. Which brings us to our next antiaging trap:

Antiaging Trap #2 – Plastic Surgery and Cosmetic Surgery Overload

I recently met a 48-year-old woman who was apparently addicted to plastic surgery. Her face was smooth, taut, and unlined. There are no wrinkles on her forehead, around her eyes, or around her mouth. But guess what? She doesn’t look ten years younger. She looks like a 48-year-old woman with a lot of work.

Even when she smiles, her face is like a mask. You can see this look on many celebrities (Courtney Cox, Nicole Kidman, Joan Rivers). Maybe that’s why some people think it’s the best way to fight the aging process. People love to imitate their favorite stars.

Now I’m not against plastic surgery. Plastic and cosmetic surgery has come a long way in helping people around the world look and feel younger than they were just 10 years ago. Maybe that’s the problem. Because it’s become more affordable, it’s now a quick fix rather than a last resort. Too much plastic surgery or cosmetic surgery won’t make you look 10 years younger. However, it can make you look weird and unnatural, like a plastic surgery junkie.

Antiaging Trap #3 Setting the Bar Too Low

When I ask women what they are really trying to accomplish with all the effort they put into staying young, most of them tend to answer the following:

“I want to look my age.”

The only way I know how to respond to that statement is “Why?”

If you really want to look your age, whether it’s 30, 40 or 50+, I’d say go for it. If you haven’t done this already, you may be able to achieve your goal in a few months. But be aware:

You’ll never go to a college sporting event and be mistaken for coed by 4 different students. You won’t be able to wear a miniskirt and look “age-appropriate”. (Sorry for that phrase. I actually despise it, but that’s another article.) You’re never going for a jog and 3 17 year olds on scooters ask what college you went to .

Why? Because “looking your age” sets the bar so low. Sure you look good, but only for your age. It’s the equivalent of a comment: “You’re very nice for a girl”. You want to look good. You want to look so good that no one can tell you look your age because no one can tell your age.

I know a lot of women over 40 who can and have been mistaken for college coed. Who else can afford to wear mini flip flops and flip flops.Who has 17 year old boys waving at them from their motorcycles and scooters

Now that we’ve discussed 3 antiaging traps and how easy it is to fall into them, let’s talk about the good news. See the quote below:

This quote comes from a married couple I met recently, I guess they were in their thirties. The man confessed to me that he was actually 52 years old and his wife was 46 years old. I was shocked. As obsessed with antiaging as I am, I’m usually pretty good at guessing people’s ages. So this really got me stuck.

The couple looked, walked and talked like they were 35 years old. There is also a 35-year-old young man. It’s so awesome, I can’t stop looking at them.

So how do they look at least 10 to 15 years younger? Is it possible they had plastic surgery?

They are very open and honest about their beauty regimen and maintenance. They told me they had “absolutely no Botox injections”. And no cosmetic surgery. They all undergo peels every six months to rejuvenate their skin. They don’t eat any processed foods and eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. They exercise 5 days a week, stretch extensively to maintain flexibility and agility, and keep up with new innovations in the antiaging industry.

Everything they told me was fascinating, and their plans clearly worked for them. But I keep coming back to their original quote: “My wife and I have decided we’re not going to grow old.”

This little statement is one of the key reasons why they can stay so vibrant and youthful. From their point of view, they will not accept the aging process, and when it is firmly in their minds, they will start a life-long plan to fight aging at any time. Once that affirmation is firmly in place, everything that follows becomes second nature to them.

This is the real key to anti-aging and maintaining youthful vitality. Be absolutely sure you can. So keep fighting aging with enthusiasm and don’t overload yourself with facelifts and plastic surgery and don’t set the bar too high. You’ll be amazed how quickly your body and mind respond when you avoid these antiaging pitfalls. You could look 10 years younger in a few months.
