Ever since The Oprah Winfrey Show did a segment on David Murdoch, there have been a lot of questions about his diet. I have to watch myself and do a thorough research. Because David Murdoch is an 85-year-old in very good shape for a 50-year-old, let alone someone his age. His goal is to live a healthy and long-lived lifestyle. David even claimed he would live to be 120. What interests me is that at the age of 85, David can do 50 push-ups non-stop.
Before we discuss what the David Murdoch diet is, we first have to understand who David was and what motivated him. David is a very successful billionaire entrepreneur with a well-known company. It’s important to know that when his wife was diagnosed with cancer, he poured millions of dollars into research and trying to find a cure for her. Although he was unsuccessful, what he learned was indeed what I have been saying since I started my personal quest. That is we can prevent cancer. The main cause of cancer is our unhealthy lifestyle. We don’t eat healthily, don’t exercise regularly, and don’t supplement our diets with safe, healthy nutritional vitamin supplements. These three areas and more are within our grasp, and we can prevent cancer in our own lives. Honestly, my story and motivation are the same. My father’s cancer drove me to seek answers, and I came to the same conclusion as David.
The three components of the David Murdoch diet.
David Murdoch’s diet consists of three components: eating healthy; exercising regularly; and taking natural nutritional vitamin supplements. In fact, I call it my healthy weight loss plan.
60 to 70 percent of all the food we eat should be fresh fruit and raw vegetables. We should be eating 100% whole grains, nuts and legumes. While we should mostly be eating fresh fruits and raw vegetables (preferably organic), it’s okay to include small amounts of low-fat, high-fiber meat in our diets. However, you should avoid red meat and only eat a little fish, chicken or turkey. Drink plenty of water, natural herbal teas, and avoid soda and all commercially processed beverages. David Murdoch juices regularly (as do I), which helps to replenish vitamins, minerals and nutrients without adding fat. The other two cannot be salt and sugar. They are bad for us because the foods we eat have them added to them. Fruits and vegetables have all the sugar and sodium we need, so there’s no need to add them. But we’re overdosing on them today.
Both aerobic exercise and resistance training are necessary. David walks every day, and he also does push-ups. Additionally, he leads a very active lifestyle. Going to the gym helps, but isn’t necessary. Exercise is as important to our health as our diet. Do this every day.
